Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday (24 October 2024) Narendra Modi Met with. In this meeting, Abdullah can submit a proposal passed by his cabinet to restore the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir to the Central Government. Yesterday, Omar Abdullah had also met Home Minister Amit Shah. He has also met Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.
In the recently held assembly elections, Abdullah’s National Conference achieved a significant victory by winning 42 out of 90 assembly seats. In the first cabinet meeting of the new government, a resolution was passed asking the central government to restore the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir. This proposal was later also approved by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
Restoration of constitutional rights
Restoration of statehood is being considered an important step. After this, constitutional rights can be restored in the valley. The state government did not exist in Jammu and Kashmir since August 5, 2019. The state was declared a union territory. After about 5 years, elections have been held in the valley and Omar Abdullah has become the CM.
Have also met the Home Minister
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday (October 23) met the Union Home Minister Amit Shah Met for the first time. The meeting between the two lasted for about 30 minutes. After the meeting, Omar Abdullah said that it was a courtesy call. During this, he informed the Union Home Minister about the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir and also discussed the issue of restoring statehood.
Omar Abdullah told that he has recently reached Delhi after the terrorist attack in Gangangir area of Ganderbal district three days ago. Seven people including a doctor lost their lives in this attack.
