Jammu-Kashmir: Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested four people while taking action against a network of active members of terrorist organizations in connection with different terrorist attacks in Doda district. Police has given this information. Four soldiers including an officer were martyred in an encounter with terrorists in Doda district on Monday.
A police spokesperson said, “Police have intensified action against the network of active members (OGWs) of terrorist organisations in the wake of the attacks in June and July.” He said an FIR was registered at the Gandoh police station on June 12 under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, Arms Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
Police arrested four helpers but investigation started
Police further said that OGWs Mubashir Hussain, Safdar Ali and Sajjad Ahmed were subsequently arrested on June 18 and 20. They are currently in judicial custody in Bhaderwah district jail. He said another FIR was registered at Gandoh police station on June 26 and Shaukat Ali was arrested on July 14. He is in police custody and more arrests are likely as the investigation progresses, the spokesperson said.
In the terrorist attacks in Jammu since January 1, 12 security personnel including an army captain have been martyred and 10 civilians have died, while 55 people have been injured and 5 terrorists have been killed. Recently, there has been an increase in terrorist incidents in Jammu. Terrorist incidents have increased especially in the border districts.
The sequence of events of terrorist incidents in Jammu is as follows-
15 July 2024: Four army personnel including an officer were martyred in an encounter with terrorists in Doda district.
8 July 2024: Five army personnel were martyred and five were injured in a terrorist attack in Kathua district.
7 July 2024: A soldier was injured in a terrorist attack on a security post in Rajouri district.
26 June 2024: Three foreign terrorists were killed in an encounter in Doda district.
12 June 2024: One policeman injured in terrorist attack in Doda district.
June 11 and 12, 2024: Two foreign terrorists were killed and a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan was killed in an encounter in Kathua district. Five Rashtriya Rifles jawans and a special police officer were injured in a terror attack in Doda district.
June 9, 2024: Nine pilgrims were killed and 42 injured in a terrorist attack on a bus in Reasi district.
May 4, 2024: One Air Force personnel was killed and five injured in a terror attack in Poonch district.
April 28, 2024: A village defence guard was killed in an encounter with terrorists in Udhampur district.
22 April 2024: A government employee was shot dead by terrorists in Rajouri district.
