Jammu Kashmir Police: There has been an increase in terrorist incidents in Jammu and Kashmir. Especially in Jammu division, which was once a very peaceful area. In such a situation, now the Jammu and Kashmir Police has decided that it will set up 19 special counter terror units for eight out of 10 districts of Jammu division to deal with the increasing incidents of terrorism. This happened when the central government appointed former NSG chief Nalin Prabhat as the special DGP of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the Indian Express report, police sources have said that the decision to form special units was taken on Wednesday. Each unit will be headed by an officer of the rank of Deputy SP. Sources said that the units have been formed on the lines of the Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police. The Special Operations Group was disbanded from most places in the Jammu division after peace was restored in the mid-2000s. However, now similar units will again eliminate terrorism.
