Jasprit Bumrah’s Fitness: Team India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has not been able to recover from his injuries for the last 6 months. He was injured on the tour of England in July, after which he could not play in the Asia Cup. He returned in the Australia series in September. He also played two T20s but then sat down after getting injured. Now once again his return was almost certain, then again he complained of discomfort and had to be ruled out of the Sri Lanka series.
Bumrah has not only been ruled out of the ODI series against Sri Lanka, but he is also finding it difficult to play in the upcoming Test series against Australia. By the way, it is being said that Bumrah can be available for the last two Tests out of four Tests against Australia, but this time BCCI will not want to take any risk for Bumrah who is getting injured again and again. Which means Bumrah may possibly stay out of the entire Australia series.
‘Bumrah will have to be extra cautious’
A BCCI source has been quoted as saying in a report, ‘Bumrah was definitely included in the squad against Sri Lanka but this But it was left whether he could play to his full potential or not. He worked hard at the NCA to get fit but a few days back he felt the stiffness again. If he is saying that he is not feeling well then you have to give him rest. We have to be extra careful with Bumrah.’
According to the source, BCCI and team management want that Bumrah may not play for the whole year but he should be fully fit in big tournaments and important series. The source has said, ‘He (Bumrah) has been told that he is needed in the Australia series. He has been asked to be available for at least three Tests. Then if the Indian team qualifies in the World Test Championship, then the team will need them in the WTC final in June. After this, his availability will be very important in the ODI World Cup.’
