At Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, four students of the first year of Pharmacy, who had written the names of Jai Shri Ram and international cricket players in their notebooks, were passed with 56 percent marks. The matter came to light after information sought from a former student of the university under the Right to Information Act. In the examination committee meeting in the university campus on Monday, two teachers Dr. Ashutosh Gupta and Dr. Vinay Verma were declared guilty in the case. Raj Bhavan letter will be sent against them. They will be relieved soon.
There was a case of students of first and second semester of D Pharma course run by Purvanchal University being passed in the examination even after not giving correct answers. Former student of the university, Divyanshu Singh, had sought information from the university under the Right to Information Act in this matter. On August 3, 2023, the student had provided the roll numbers of 18 students of the first year of D. Pharma and got copies of them and demanded revaluation.
The university asked the student to provide copies of 58 copies, but provided only 42 copies. In the copy of bar code number 4149113, the student had written – Jai Shri Ram pass. Apart from this, names of players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya etc. were written. This student was passed with 42 marks out of 75, which is 56 percent marks. Similar bar code was also found in copies of 4149154, 4149158, 4149217. These students were also passed.
In a letter sent to Raj Bhavan, the student had alleged that a professor had passed the students by taking money. Its video is also viral. The former student had sent all the complaints along with affidavits to Rajya Bhavan. Taking cognizance, Raj Bhavan had ordered investigation and action on 21 December 2023.
