Javed Akhtar on Animal Director: Many times it happens when people from the film industry make statements against each other. These statements are not made face to face but at different places. Something similar is happening these days between lyricist-writer Javed Akhtar and film director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. When Javed Akhtar criticized the film âAnimalâ, its director Sandeep Reddy responded.
Sandeep Reddy had said that the web series âMirzapurâ produced by his son Farhan Akhtar was nonsense. The director recalled some web series of lyricistâs son Farhan and reminded him of the abuses in them. Now Javed Akhtar has hit back on this.
Javed Akhtar hits back at Sandeep Reddy
Javed Akhtar also mentioned these things during a conversation with YouTube channel Mojo Story. On Sandeep Reddyâs statement, he said, âI was not criticizing the filmmaker because in a democratic society he has the right to make films like Animal. I was worried only about the audience, not about the filmmaker. He has the right to make any kind of film.
When Sandeep Reddy termed the web series like âMirzapurâ made in Farhan Akhtarâs company Excel Entertainment as nonsense, Javed Akhtar also responded. He said, âI have not seen the film, I have just heard about it. But what I heard was surprising. I felt honored when he (Sandeep Reddy) replied to me. In my 53 years of career, he did not get anything from one of my films, one dialogue, one script or song, so he went to my sonâs company.
Javed Akhtar further said, âFarhan neither acted in that web series, nor directed it, nor wrote the story. Just that series is made in that company. That company has now become big in which many things are made and that series was just one of them. Itâs such a shame that they couldnât find anything in my career of 53 years.
How did this controversy start?
Javed Akhtar had mentioned the shoe licking scene of the film Animal. He had said, âI believe that this is the exam time for the young filmmakers of today. The society should praise what kind of character he wants to show. For example, if in a film a man asks a woman to lick his shoes or slaps a woman and that film becomes a superhit, it is very dangerous. Sandeep Reddy Vanga had replied to the same thing of Javed Akhtar.
