National President of Janata Dal United, Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh has resigned from his post. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has once again been made the national president of the party. This is being considered a big step for JDU before the Lok Sabha elections. Many reasons have emerged as to why Lalan Singh was removed from the post of president.
A senior member, who attended the national executive meeting of JDU in Delhi, said in a discussion with Amar Ujala that Lalan Babu was not able to maintain harmony with the workers due to his stubborn attitude. Workers were continuously complaining about his behavior to Nitish Kumar. The big leaders of the party, whether they were MPs or MLAs, were not able to establish rapport with him due to his behavior nor were they able to openly discuss party related activities with him.
He told that as the national president of the party, Lalan Singh had to take meetings of officials, MLAs, MPs and various fronts and cells to strengthen the party. But ever since he became the president, the meetings have stopped taking place. Due to his behavior many active leaders avoided talking to him. 13 out of 16 MPs were angry with him. All the MPs had recently expressed their displeasure to CM Nitish Kumar also. Even in the meeting of JDU MLAs, Nitish Kumar was not getting good feedback about Lalan Singh. Recently the CM himself had reached the party office for a surprise inspection. During this time he had realized that whatever Lalan Singh should have done to strengthen the party, he was not able to live up to it.
There was danger of a split in the party, ministers were holding secret meetings
Sources say that Nitish Kumar was beginning to see the danger of disintegration in his own party. Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan, who was a staunch opponent of Nitish, had said many times that there is an atmosphere of dissatisfaction in JDU and many leaders are in touch with him. Such statements started coming out continuously from BJP leaders that Lalan Singh has now become closer to Lalu Prasad Yadav than Nitish Kumar. News of secret meetings of MLAs and ministers started coming out. This move of Nitish Kumar is being linked to all these things.
Message given to Lalu-BJP, vote bank also strengthened
As JDU President, Lalan Singh is continuously attacking BJP from Parliament to the streets. Even in Parliament, he used to directly attack PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah several times. There was also an allegation against Lalan Singh that he was working for RJD instead of JDU. He was praising RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav. In such a situation, the image of JDU had become completely anti-Modi and anti-BJP. In such a situation, by removing Lalan Singh, an attempt has been made to send a message to Nitish Kumar Lalu as well as BJP.
Political experts of the state say that Bihar is the only state in the country where caste census has been conducted. On the basis of this report, the scope of reservation in the state was increased to 75 percent. In such a situation, Nitish Kumar wants to capitalize on his achievement in the elections. But Lalan Singh did not sit in this OBC politics of Nitish again. In such a situation, by sidelining Lalan, Nitish has tried to give a message to his core vote bank also. Because Nitish Kumar knows very well that Lalu Yadav currently has a vote bank base of 30-32 percent. This vote bank stands strongly with him. Apart from the Lok Sabha elections, this vote bank plays a decisive role in the assembly elections.
