Jigra Box Office Collection: ‘Jigra’ was also one of the much awaited films of Alia Bhatt. The film was released on the occasion of Dussehra along with Vettaiyan and Vicky Vidya’s Woh Wala video. It has been a week since the film was released but the film has been able to recover only one-fourth of its budget.

Weak story and bad reviews
The story of the film did not seem anything special to the audience. Critics also rejected the film due to its clichéd story. This was a major reason why the film did not get positive word of mouth and the film failed.
‘Savi’ Vs ‘Jigra’
After watching the story trailer of the film, it was being speculated that this film could have a story like Divya Khosla Kumar’s ‘Savi’, which was released this year. Later, Saavi actress Divya Khosla Kumar herself also slammed Alia and producer Karan Johar on her social media handles regarding the film. Now why would the audience go to watch such a film as they can already easily watch it on Netflix.
Clash with ‘Vettaiyan’ and ‘Vicky Vidya’
There was definitely a buzz after the trailer of Alia’s film came out but the film did not seem to get much love from the audience. The reason was that video of Rajnikanth-Amitabh starrer Vettaiyaan and Rajkumar Rao’s Vicky Vidya. Both these films were also released along with Alia’s film. In such a situation, the film also suffered losses due to box office clash. If the film had been released alone, it could have been possible that the audience would have been attracted towards the film due to lack of options.
Dependency on Alia Bhatt
Making a film with a clichéd story and a big star may not always be beneficial. The entire film revolves around Alia. Or we can say that the film rested on the shoulders of Alia. The most an actor can do is act better, nothing more. Alia did that, but a film cannot be run on the basis of acting alone.
There was nothing special in the name of action in the film.
The film was definitely promoted as an action drama, but the film lacked action. After seeing good action in films like Kill and Maharaj, the audience was not much impressed by the lackluster action.
High budget of the film
The minus point of Jigra was also that the film has been made on a good budget. If reports are to be believed, around Rs 90 crores have been spent in making it. On the other hand, that video of Vicky Vidya was ready for just Rs 20 crores.
This was also the reason that despite not earning a very good amount, Rajkumar Rao’s film made more money than the budget and also became a hit. But Alia’s film proved to be weak.
