Ritesh Kumar/Samastipur: If you are also fond of eating pakodas, then you will go crazy after eating pakodas from a shop in Samastipur. Joginder ji’s shop is at Mirzapur Chowk on SH-50 going to Darbhanga in Samastipur district. The cabbage pakoda at this shop is very tasty and people like it very much. Pakodas start selling at the shop at 2 in the afternoon and there is a crowd of people till 7 in the evening. Here cabbage pakodas are sold not by pieces but by weighing on scales.
Shopkeeper Joginder Rai told that to make cabbage pakoda, firstly the cabbage is cut into small pieces. Then it is boiled. When the cabbage is boiled, it is left to cool. After this, a batter of gram flour is prepared, in which celery, mangroula, salt, turmeric powder and other spices are added. This process takes about 35 to 40 minutes. Then the boiled cabbage is put in the gram flour solution and filtered. It takes 10 minutes to filter it. Cabbage pakodas are sold to customers for Rs 20 per 100 grams.
Started shop by taking loan…
Shopkeeper Joginder Rai told that earlier we used to work in a shop at this place. The condition of our family was not good. At the same time, we were not getting the money on time from the people we worked for. Due to this we were facing a lot of trouble. On the advice of a customer, we took a loan and opened a pakoda shop, but sales were not going well in the initial phase. Then gradually people started liking our pakodas. Now we make about 10 to 12 kg of cabbage pakodas every day. This earns good income.
