Johnny Walker’s real name was Badruddin Jamaluddin Qazi. Johnny was the first actor in Bollywood to have a secretary or manager. He had earned a big and special name in Bollywood. But sometimes he also sold fruits and vegetables and sometimes worked as a bus conductor.

Johnny Walker used to sell fruits, vegetables and ice cream


Johnny Walker lived a life of struggle before making a name in Bollywood. Johnny was born on 11 November 1926 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Johnny studied only till the sixth class. His family’s financial condition was not such that he could study further. So he left his studies. To help the family, he even sold ice cream. Apart from this, he also had to sell fruits and vegetables.

Johnny Walker was also a bus conductor

Johnny Walker was also a bus conductor once. He used to earn his living by working as a bus conductor. It is said that during this time he used to stop the bus at stops in a funny way and ask the passengers to sit. Passengers liked this style of his very much. Johnny also wanted to try his luck in the film world.

It is said that one day the famous actor Balraj Sahni was travelling in the bus in which Johnny was the conductor. Johnny caught Balraj Sahni’s attention with his style. After this, Balraj Sahni introduced Johnny to the late actor and director Guru Dutt. Guru Dutt and Johnny later worked together in many films.

In another story, it is said that Balraj Sahni first saw Johnny on the sets of the 1951 film ‘Halchal’. Johnny was acting as a drunkard without drinking alcohol. Balraj was impressed by Johnny’s acting. After this, Balraj introduced Johnny to Guru Dutt.

Johnny Walker also holds the record of having films named after him. The 1992 Malayalam film ‘Johnny Walker’ and the 1957 film ‘Johnny Walker’ were made on his name. In his career, he worked in more than 300 films. His brilliant films include ‘CID’, ‘Kagaz Ke Phool’, ‘Baazi’, ‘Mr. and Mrs. 55’ and ‘Anand’.
