Joshimath Sinking: The situation in Joshimath, Uttarakhand is getting worse every day. Now the cracks are taking a more frightening form than before. The cracks which were only two inches earlier have now increased to 8-9 inches. The possibility of collapse of two hotels (Malari Inn and Mountain View) has also been raised. It is believed that both the hotels will collapse by next week. People are being shifted from vulnerable places to safer places.
At the same time, now the local people have told the reason behind the landslide. He alleges that the way blasts are carried out in the tunnel of NTPC, that too can be a major reason for land subsidence. To know the truth, today ABP News first reached inside this tunnel. This 12 kilometer long tunnel under construction starts from a place named Selag which will go till Tapovan. Till now work has been done only for 8 kms.

NTPC has replied in writing that this tunnel has been made through tunnel boring machine. No blast has been done here. Now many questions have started arising regarding this tunnel. NTPC has said that no blasting has been done here and work has been done here on the lines of Delhi Metro.
600 families are being shifted
Panic has increased more than before among the local people. On January 6, the temple of Maa Bhagwati also collapsed here in Singhdhar ward. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had also given instructions to immediately vacate the buildings built in Joshimath’s highly sensitive (danger zone) areas. Officials have been asked to shift around 600 families living in at-risk houses in Joshimath to safer places.
