Joshimath Latest Update: The crisis of Joshimath is increasing continuously. Till now the administration has taken 131 families out of their homes. All of them have been given a place in a safe shelter.

At the same time, the administration has decided to demolish the houses which were seriously damaged due to the crack, which has started protesting among the local people. CM Dhami has called an emergency meeting on the matter on 13 January.

On Monday (January 11) late night, seeing the administration team that reached to demolish a hotel, people got agitated and started shouting slogans. Due to the opposition of the local people, the administration team had to postpone the action. The families of the hoteliers are sitting outside the building. There are also women among them. People are protesting for compensation.

Local people say that the administration did not clearly tell what compensation they would get. Talking to ABP News, a local resident said that action will be taken only if the government gives a written assurance regarding the compensation. Along with this, they demand that action should be taken during the day instead of at night.

A commandant of BRO told ABP News that this action is being taken at night because there is less traffic here at night. Due to less crowd, there will not be much danger, so this action is being taken at night.

In view of the protest, additional police force Joshimath was called on Monday night. On Tuesday, the administration team will talk to the owner of Malari Inn Hotel and other people, they will be listened to. An attempt will be made to resolve the matter by talking, after that the demolition will take place.

Joshimath is considered the gateway of Chardham Yatra. Most of the traders and hotel owners in the city depend on the pilgrims. Local traders say that no notice was given to them regarding the demolition of the building. 723 houses in the city have been identified as having cracks. However, only some of these are yet to be demolished.
