Uzbekistan and Africa believe
Where did Sarda come from or say what is its place of origin, there are two currents regarding that. But let us make it clear that the place of origin of Sarda is not India. The reason for this is that melon and watermelon were also not born in India, so its matter is different. Regarding Sarda, one side says that its origin is related to Korea and from there it reached countries like China, India, Vietnam, Japan etc. through the Silk Route. In Korea this fruit is called Chamo, Chame, Chanwe. But most food historians believe that the type of climate needed for Sarda to grow and thrive is not in Korea. For this a hot desert area is necessary and such climate is found only in the desert areas of the Middle East.
Food historian and expert Pushpesh Pant says that those who link the origin of Sarda to Korea are unwise. A fruit like Sarda needs a desert environment to thrive and it is clear that it originated from Afghanistan or Uzbekistan. He also says that Sarda had come to India during the time of Mughal ruler Babur.
Because of this the name Sarda
It is believed that the Sarda we are eating today is actually not the one that came from Afghanistan years ago, now Sarda is being grown in India only. On this issue, Dr. Harshvardhan Chowdhary, senior scientist (Vegetables) of Pusa Institute (ICAR) explains that a few decades ago, this Sarda used to come to India from Afghanistan at the onset of winter, since its arrival is associated with winter, hence its name India. The people of It is also believed that there is a route of Sarda to African countries. The Sarda we are eating today is being grown in many parts of the country and it is being grown and eaten even after summer. Its two varieties have been advanced by Pusa. He gave an interesting information about muskmelon and sarda that when the muskmelon ripens, it automatically breaks and separates from the vine, while the sarda does not separate from the vine when it is ripe, it has to be plucked.
