The body of Civil Judge Junior Division Jyotsna Rai (29) was found hanging in the government residence near the Civil Bar in Badaun on Saturday morning. Employees reached the residence to work in the morning. He knocked the door. Called him several times but there was no response. The employees informed the judge and Kotwali police living nearby. The police broke the door of his residence and informed his family members. His parents reached the spot at around 5.30 pm. According to the police, a suicide note was also recovered from his room.

Civil Judge, Junior Division Jyotsna Rai came to Badaun after being transferred from Ayodhya on 29 April 2023. She became a civil judge at the age of just 24 and her first posting was in Ayodhya on 15 November 2019. Jyotsna Rai was originally a resident of Mau district. His father Ashok Kumar Rai retired from the post of Additional Director Prosecution from Bareilly on 31 July 2023. Since then he is living in Lucknow.

Jyotsna lived on the first floor

Jyotsna was living on the first floor of judge residence number four near the Civil Bar complex. Employee Bhuparam reached his residence at around 9.30 am on Saturday morning. He was trying to open the door. Just then Sushila, the cook, and Mamta, the cleaner, reached his residence. They kept trying hard to open the door. The door was locked from inside.
