After this, he left everything and went to Rishikesh from Delhi where he got money for singing but it was so less that he could not even make ends meet. Kailash Kher had told that he was very different from others and hence could not fit in with anyone.
He was very disappointed in his life and then thought of committing suicide. The singer further said that this incident is from 1999 when after much thinking, he tried to commit suicide by jumping into the Ganga river in Rishikesh but people present at the ghat saved him.
Kailash Kher further said that the person who saved him scolded him a lot and told him the value of life. After this incident, his life took a new turn and he struggled until he succeeded.

Kailash Kher came to Mumbai in the year 2001. While living in Rishikesh, he made some friends who were associated with the film industry. One of his friends introduced Kailash Kher to musician Ram Sampath who composed jingles for advertisements. Kailash Kher sang his first jingle for Nakshatra Diamonds.
After this, he sang jingles for âCoca Colaâ, âCitibankâ, âPepsiâ, âHero Hondaâ and then for IPL. During this time, Nadeem-Shravan gave him a chance to sing a song in the 2004 film Andaaz. The name of that song was âRabba Ishq Na Hoveâ and after that Kailash Kherâs luck changed.
