When the film ‘Ek Duje Ke Liye’ was ready, K. Balachander first showed it to Raj Kapoor. The climax of the film was sad and Raj Kapoor wanted a happy ending. That is why he did not like the climax of the film. Raj suggested that the climax of the film be changed. But the director did not do this.

Because of the climax scene of ‘Ek Duje Ke Liye’, no distributor had bought the film. In the end Laxman Prasad himself had to distribute the film. The film was released and people liked it a lot. Made with a budget of just Rs 10 lakh, this film earned Rs 10 crore. But there was an uproar when couples, inspired by a scene in this film, started committing suicide.
People started committing suicide after watching the film
In fact, in the climax of ‘Ek Duje Ke Liye’, Kamal Haasan and Rati Agnihotri, a couple, commit suicide by jumping off a mountain and after seeing this, many couples started doing the same. Now there was pressure on the makers of ‘Ek Duje Ke Liye’ to change the climax of the film and the last scene of the film was also changed. But the fans did not like this change and then the film ran in theaters with the old suicide climax.
