Sikh organizations allege that the Sikh community has been historically portrayed incorrectly in the film and their image has been hurt. There was a lot of opposition to the film in Punjab, while now a Sikh organization in Telangana has opposed ‘Emergency’. Due to which the Sikh organization in the state met high-profile government officials on Thursday.
According to reports, a delegation of Telangana Sikh Society led by former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Tejdeep Kaur Menon met government advisor Mohammad Ali Shabbir to discuss the portrayal of Sikhs in ‘Emergency’. During this, the Sikh organization has demanded a ban on the screening of ‘Emergency’.

They submitted a report to the government, stating that Kangana’s film ‘Emergency’ depicted Sikhs as “terrorists” and “anti-nationals”, and was derogatory to the entire community. The letter also mentioned that the film could harm the image of the community and its people. After the meeting, Shabbir has conveyed the demands to Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy who has now assured that the government will consider banning the film in the state after relevant consultations.
