A dispute broke out during the Ram Janmotsav procession that took place in Kannauj on Wednesday night. The organizers accused the other party of disrupting the procession. The police handled the situation in time. The people involved in the procession went ahead and sat on dharna. Later, after reaching the police station, a complaint was lodged for action in this matter.
The matter is near Mir Owais Tola near JP Inter College under Sadar Kotwali. A procession was taken out in the city on Wednesday evening to commemorate Ram Janmotsav. The procession was passing through different routes. A large number of people were involved in this. While moving ahead from JP College, while passing through Imam Chowk near Mir Owais Tola locality, some mischievous elements tried to spoil the atmosphere. Wanted to climb the Imam Chowk and wave the flag there.
People from the other side who were already present protested and removed him. Meanwhile, some people started creating ruckus by alleging obstruction in the procession and raising religious slogans. The police somehow took the procession forward. Later, some people involved in the procession sat on a dharna near Thakurdwara temple. Everyone started demanding action on the other side. Meanwhile a large number of police arrived. ASP Dr. Sansar Singh, CO Kamlesh Kumar, Sadar Kotwal Digvijay Singh also reached. The police somehow explained and removed him. Later, a large number of people reached Sadar Kotwali and filed a complaint demanding action. SP Amit Kumar Anand said that the procession passed peacefully. No one tried to stop the procession. There was information about a dispute regarding another religious place on the way. Adequate police force has been deployed on the spot. Nearby CCTV footage is being watched. Further action will be taken on that basis.
