The PRV police, which arrived on the information that a farmer from Dharhara village of Bidhnu area in Kanpur was kidnapped, held hostage and beaten by six-seven youths from the neighboring village on Friday night, was attacked. The youth hit the constable and the home guard with sticks. The attackers fled when the police reached the police station. After this, the victim farmer was freed and taken home. The police have registered a report on the farmer’s complaint and started investigating the matter. The farmer has also mentioned the attack on the police in his complaint.
Farmer Shyam Singh Chandel (57), resident of Dharhara village, was going to Jamu village by bike to his daughter’s house on Friday night. At the turn of Bambipurwa village, six youths who came on three bikes started beating him after asking his name and address. Then they kidnapped him on his bike and took him to Bambipurwa. Here they were taken hostage and beaten with sticks. Meanwhile, a villager informed on dial-112. On this, constable Jitendra Kumar of PRV (Police Response Vehicle)-0960 and home guard Dharmendra Kumar reached Bambipurwa. When both the policemen started freeing Shyam Singh, the youth pulled the farmer with sticks. When constable Jitendra started making video, an accused youth tried to snatch the mobile. Meanwhile, the soldier was hit on the head with a stick. When the police force reached the police station on receiving information about the attack on the police, the attackers fled. After this the policemen took Shyam Singh home.
