A truck laden with potatoes went out of control and overturned when a roadways bus overtook it near Purvamir overbridge in Maharajpur on the Kanpur-Prayagraj highway. The driver was injured in the accident and sacks of potatoes were scattered on the road. Due to this, there was traffic jam in Kanpur-Fatehpur and Service Lane for about 45 minutes.
Driver Siraj Ansari, resident of Mohania, Bihar, was going from Hathras to Mohania on Saturday after loading potatoes in a truck. In the afternoon, a speeding roadways bus overtook the truck near Purvamir overbridge. Due to this, Siraj lost control of the steering and the truck went out of control and overturned. In the accident, the highway divider was damaged and sacks of potatoes were spread on the road. Due to this, there was jam on Kanpur-Fatehpur and service lane.
Shyam Pandey, patrolling in-charge of NHAI team reached the spot after receiving the information and got the laborers to remove the potato sacks from the road. Also called for JCB and crane and got the truck straightened. Injured Siraj told the police that the vehicle belonged to Mohania resident agent Vijay Bahadur Singh and the potatoes were his. Police station in-charge Sanjay Pandey said that the truck overturned after overtaking the roadways bus at high speed. If the truck driver files a complaint, a report will be filed and action will be taken.
