Plastic recycling, removal and lamination factory located in Panki Site 1 in Kanpur caught fire in the bushes of a big plot situated nearby. Due to strong wind, the fire took a monstrous form and goods worth lakhs were burnt in all the three factories. With the help of 14 fire engines that reached the spot, the fire was brought under control in two and a half hours.
Fire broke out in the bushes in an empty plot located in Site-1 of Panki police station area on Sunday afternoon. Due to strong winds, the small fire took a monstrous form and engulfed the plastic recycling plant named Guru Nanak Traders owned by Ratanlal Nagar resident Luv Bhatia. The fire increased further due to burning of scrap kept in the plant. Meanwhile, on the information of Rahul Agarwal, owner of another recycling plant located a little distance away, two fire engines from Panki and Fazalganj reached the spot.
By then the fire spread to the lamination plant named Suman Polymer of Pankaj Agarwal, a resident of Civil Lines, and the adjacent factory named India Beds Private Limited, owned by Pramit Agarwal. Seeing the fire spreading, Chief Fire Officer Deepak Sharma reached the spot with 14 fire engines from Fazalganj, Mirpur, Kidwai Nagar and by spraying water from three sides, the fire was brought under control in about three hours. The recycling plant had completely turned into ashes, while the lamination and recycling plants have also suffered a lot of damage. Chief Fire Officer Deepak Sharma said that the exact cause of the fire will be known after an investigation.
