Karan has written in his note, “I can’t believe it’s been 20 years… My biggest fear was losing my parents… On August 2, 2003, my father told me that he had a malignant tumor… My worst nightmare was to have a dead body staring at me and yet as his child it was my duty to stay positive and keep the faith…

10 months later he left us… we lost him… but we treasured every inch of his goodwill… I was so proud to be the son of the most determined, soulful and selfless person… he put his relationships above everything else… and left a legacy of love that my mother and I live on to this day…

I wish he knew our kids… but I know he keeps an eye on them and us all the time… love you papa…”

On his Instagram Stories, Karan wrote that Lakshya was the last film his father saw before he left him. “He came back from the premiere and was very proud of Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar and Hrithik Roshan and told me that he had seen him grow up and blessed him. Lakshya will remain special for me in many ways…he also met the entire industry at the premiere,” the filmmaker said, adding that he was grateful that his father could say a final goodbye to his film family at the screening.
