To celebrate the ‘silver jubilee’ of this victory, grand celebrations are being organized in Drass of Kargil district. These programs will be organized from 24 to 26 July. This time the celebration of victory is going to be very special. This time the Prime Minister Narendra Modi He will also attend the tribute ceremony at the Martyrs Memorial in Drass.

Kargil resident Mohammad Hussain said, ‘Every year, people from across the country come to Kargil and Dras to pay tribute to the martyrs along with the local people to celebrate the anniversary of the victory achieved by the courage of the Indian Army 25 years ago. But the people here are very happy with the visit of Prime Minister Modi to Kargil and hope that the Prime Minister will also bring some gifts for the development of Ladakh.

Let us tell you that the Kargil War Memorial built by the Indian Army dedicated to the martyrs of the Kargil war is located in Drass. This memorial, located at the foot of Tololing Hill, was built in memory of the martyrs of the Kargil war.

Batalik resident Ghulam Mohammad said that the army had to bear 70 percent of the losses in this war in his area, but after the war everyone’s attention is limited to Dras only.

He further said, ‘The army suffered the most losses here. The most fierce battle was fought here. But both the army and the government forgot Batalik. If there was a memorial of the soldiers here, tourists would have come here and we would have also developed.

Soldiers and officers are happy

The soldiers and officers who participated in the Kargil war are happy that for the first time a Prime Minister will come to the 1999 battlefield and pay tribute to the soldiers on the occasion of Vijay Diwas. In the last 24 years, only the President, Army Chief and Defense Minister of the country have been a part of this program, but the elected Prime Minister has stayed away from this program.

The Prime Minister will attend the wreath-laying ceremony. After that, he will visit the ‘Shaheed Marg’ (Wall of Fame). PM Modi will sign the visitor’s book and inspect the museum of artifacts of the Kargil war. During this, he will get a brief information on the Kargil war, after which he will take a group photo. According to the known program, the Prime Minister will also interact with ‘Veer Naris’ and visit Veer Bhumi, where memorials of martyred soldiers have been built.
