Karnataka hassan JDS MP Prajwal Revanna booked in harassment case amid Obscene video row SIT constituted

FIR Against NDA Candidate Prajwal Revanna: An FIR has been registered regarding the viral obscene video related to Prajwal Revanna, NDA candidate and sitting MP from Hassan, Karnataka. Amid the controversy, a complaint of sexual harassment and stalking has been filed against Prajwal and his father HD Revanna at Holenarsipur police station.

News agency PTI reported that the complaint has been lodged by his cook. Both father and son have been nominated. Amidst this controversy, there is also news of Revanna going abroad.

Karnataka government formed SIT

The Karnataka government on Sunday constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the alleged ‘sex scandal’ involving Janata Dal (Secular) president and grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda Prajwal Revanna. This step has been taken after Dr. Nagalakshmi Choudhary, Chairperson of Karnataka State Women’s Commission, wrote a letter to the government. Revanna (33) is the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate from Hassan Lok Sabha seat, where voting was held on April 26. JDS had joined NDA in September last year.

The three-member SIT of Indian Police Service (IPS) officers will be headed by Additional Director General of Police (CID) Bijay Kumar Singh. The other two members are Assistant Inspector General of Police Suman D. Penekar and Mysuru Superintendent of Police Seema Latkar. SIT has been instructed to complete its investigation soon.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had announced the formation of SIT. “The government has decided to set up a special investigation team in the objectionable video case of Prajwal Revanna,” he said in a post on social media platform ‘X’ late Saturday night.

Prajwal Revanna left the country

According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, the police have information that MLA and former minister H.D. Revanna’s son Prajwal has left the country. Dr Chaudhary had on Thursday written a letter to Siddaramaiah and state police chief Alok Mohan, demanding an investigation into the video being broadcast in Hassan.
Home Minister Mr. “In case he (Prajwal) goes abroad, the SIT will be responsible for bringing him back and continuing the investigation,” Parameshwara told reporters. We will not tell the SIT how to conduct the investigation.

Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivkumar said, “…our heads are bowed in shame.” Shivkumar is also the state Congress chief. He said, “I saw in the media that he had ‘eloped’. This is an unpardonable crime. This is a matter of shame. He is an MP and the grandson of the former Prime Minister. He is an MP from the same seat which was represented by the former Prime Minister.

What does Prajwal Revanna have to say?

Prajwal Revanna, through his election agent, filed a complaint with the authorities that the video has been doctored and is being circulated to tarnish his image before the elections. JDS has also made the same claim while BJP has distanced itself from the issue.
