Kashi Keepers Team Got First Place In Boat Race In Varanasi Cricketer Praveen Kumar Gave Trophy


The four-day Kashi Boat Race event on the waves of the Ganga came to an end on Friday. Kashi Keepers stood first among the 12 teams that participated in the competition. Ganga Lahiri’s team got second place and Jal Yoddha got third place in the competition. The chief guest and former Indian cricket team player Praveen Kumar honored the winning and runner-up team by giving them trophies and cheques. The winning team was awarded Rs 1 lakh as prize and the second and third place teams were awarded a check of Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively.

With the aim of promoting water sports, the four-day Kashi Boat Race competition between Dashashwamedh Ghat to Rajghat started on January 17. Based on the performance of the participating teams on all the four days, the Kashi Keepers team led by Dwarka Sahni was declared the winner on the last day.

Addressing the closing ceremony, former cricketer Praveen Kumar said that the spirit of sportsmanship inspires us with courtesy, morality, truthfulness and nobility in victory or defeat.

Deputy Director of Tourism Department Preeti Srivastava said that the Kashi Boat Race was a new experience for the residents of Kashi as well as for the boatmen here.

The CNG boat rally will be held on 22 January. According to Municipal Commissioner Pranay Singh, the operation of passenger boats in Ganga will be stalled for eight hours during this period. The rally starting at 3:30 pm will go from Namoghat to Ravidas Ghat. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri will flag off the rally.
