Expansion

Such preparations are going on in KGMU so that the head of every dead body does not have to be opened in the mortuary. If there is no head injury then just a scanner will suffice. Preparations are underway to start the process in the new building of the post-mortem house.

Post mortem of the dead body is a legal procedure in case of any unusual death. In this the doctor opens the entire body. The head is also separated and the cause of death is investigated. Many times the cause of death is almost clear but the complete process of post-mortem has to be done. Dissection worsens the condition of the dead body. Because of this, many times the family members of the deceased avoid post-mortem. As an alternative, there is a provision of a scanner.

If there is no injury on the body, the dead body is scanned. The head or other body part is opened only when necessary. Modern post-mortem has been planned in the new mortuary building constructed in KGMU. Its proposal is being prepared and sent to the government.
