Flour – 1 bowl
Oil – 1/2 tsp (optional)
Salt – 1/4 tsp (as needed)
water – as needed

To knead the dough, first sift the flour in a mixing bowl or dish. If you want to retain the bran in the flour, then use the flour without sifting it. Now add 1/4 tsp salt (as required) to the flour and mix it well with the flour. Many people do not put salt in the flour, in this case you can also skip the salt. However, adding salt to the flour increases the taste of the roti.
Now taking little water in hand, keep sprinkling it on the flour and keep mixing the flour. Many people pour water at the same time by making an empty space in the middle of the flour, but by doing this the dough may become too wet. That’s why always pour water by taking it in the palm of your hand. After this knead the dough. While kneading the dough, when it becomes properly wet, knead the dough with the joint of the fingers by clenching the fists of the hands. Do this process for about 5 minutes. After this, add half a teaspoon of oil to the flour and mix it well. Knead the dough for 1 more minute, then cover it and keep it aside for 5 minutes. If you are going to make instant rotis of flour, knead the dough for 2 to 3 minutes even after adding oil. In this way, the perfect dough for making soft rotis is ready.
