World AIDS Vaccine Day is celebrated across the world on 18 May every year to make the public aware of AIDS and to appreciate and encourage the efforts of scientists to create an AIDS vaccine.

The first AIDS Day was celebrated on 18 May in 1998. Earlier, the need to celebrate this day was felt in 1997 after the speech of US President Bill Clinton at Morgan University. In his speech, Bill Clinton had stressed the need to create a vaccine to eradicate AIDS. After this, this day was chosen to emphasize the ongoing research and scientific trials to create an AIDS vaccine.

The importance of World AIDS Vaccine Day (HIV) is to make people aware of HIV. Vaccination has to be done to fight this dangerous disease. People all over the world celebrate this day to promote the development of AIDS vaccine. HIV is a serious global health problem.
