How to observe Janmashtami fast? (Janmashtami Vrat Vidhi)
Apart from worshipping Kanha on Janmashtami, fasting is also a rule. One day before Janmashtami fast, from Saptami Tithi, one should give up tamasic food like garlic, onion, brinjal, radish etc. and after eating satvik food, one should follow celibacy. On Janmashtami day, wake up in Brahma Muhurta, take bath and meditate in the morning and wear clean clothes. Take a pledge to fast on fruits or water. Worship Kanha throughout the day. Celebrate the birth anniversary of Shri Krishna at 12 o’clock in the night, offer him food. Break the fast the next day.
