Went. In the past, people used to get scared after hearing slogans of Lal Salaam in Naxal district like Gaya. Today there is a square named ‘Lal Salaam’ in the district. It comes in Tankuppa block area of the district and is located on Bandhua Kariyadpur Road. The old name of this village is Rainpuri. After Naxalite Rama Shankar Lal was killed in a police encounter here, the people of the village named this place ‘Lal Salaam’. Even today, when new people pass through this village, they get scared for a while.
Messiah of the area formed by the Chinese war
In the year 1984, Rama Shankar Lal, resident of Barsauna village of Tankuppa block, was a member of CPI party. He had borrowed five kilos of sugar from a feudal lord for his daughter’s wedding. At that time the price of one kg sugar was Rs 2.50. In return, Rs 1200 were collected from them. No solution was found in the Panchayat regarding this matter. For this he had to endure torture. After being harassed for sugar, he joined the banned Naxalite organization and became the area commander. Fought the feudal people and within a few days he became a messiah for the area by helping the poor people.
There is a shadow of red salute in the area
Rama Shankar Lal died in a police encounter in 1984. The villagers made a memorial at the place of his death by giving Lal Salaam. Even today the stone slab in his name is present here. There are many Lal Salaam boards installed at the turn of Rainpuri village. Lal Salaam is written in the addresses of private shops and even government banks at that place.
Sweets were distributed in the village
Baidyanath Bharti, who knew Rama Shankar Lal and was his companion, told Local 18 that hundreds of people were present on the day Rama Shankar Lal’s memorial was built. Sweets were distributed among the people of the village to celebrate the completion of the memorial. He died at this very place due to which this place was named Lal Salaam and since then this name is prevalent in the entire district.
