A detailed investigation by the District Magistrate of Central Delhi revealed that the two suspended officers had inspected the premises for issuing fire safety certificates. The investigation also found that officials concealed information about misuse of the basement as a library and failed to refer the matter to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The investigation also pointed fingers at MCD officials, who did not seal the library operated illegally in the basement after inspecting it and issuing the certificate in September 2021. Strict action is also being initiated against MCD and Public Service Department officials responsible for the poor drainage infrastructure in the area.
