Mango season has started. But today we will not talk about mango but about the wine made from mango. You might be thinking that mango shake is made from mango, wine is made from grapes. But you will be surprised to know that wine was also made from mango during the Mughal period. Know how wine was made from mango fruit. After all, which ruler used to consume it.

What is wine made from? Most people will say that wine is made from grape fruit. But during the Mughal period, mango was also used to make wine. Let us tell you that Mughal emperor Jahangir, son of Mughal ruler Akbar, is known for drinking excessive alcohol. According to history, after some time Jahangir started consuming mango wine to increase strength.

Mango is considered the king of fruits. Let us tell you that the story of mango is also found in Jahangirnama. For Jahangir, Noor Jahan used to make wine by mixing mango and rose. Jahangirnama claims that this wine used to intoxicate as well as increase sex power. Jahangir has written that despite the excellence of Kabul’s fruits, none of them is as tasty as mango.

Akbar also liked mangoes

Mughal ruler Akbar also liked mangoes a lot. Akbar liked mangoes so much that during his reign from 1556 to 1605, he planted a garden of about one lakh mango plants in Darbhanga. It was known as Lakh Bagh. In ‘Ain-e-Akbari’, information has been given about many varieties of mangoes, their specialties and places of cultivation. At the same time, Persian poet Urfi Siraj gave the title of ‘Sartaj-e-Samara’ to mango in Akbar’s court. In Persian, he had written that ‘he who does not like mangoes has lost his mind and his taste has been ruined’.

Research on mango

Let us tell you that scientists of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) succeeded in preparing wine from Langda and Dussehri mangoes after a long research two years ago. During the research, they found that the specialty of wine made from mango is that the antioxidants and polyphenols present in it in abundance make it capable of fighting heart, cancer and skin diseases.
