In Mainpuri, the SWAT team, while taking action along with Kurawali police on Friday, recovered 64 boxes of non-provincial liquor being carried hidden in a thresher from Etah Sharifpur Border GT Road. Two smugglers were also arrested from the spot. Information regarding the action was given by the SP by holding a press conference in the police line. Told that the value of recovered liquor is around Rs 12 lakh.
SP Vinod Kumar said that on Friday, information was received about non-state liquor being smuggled from the area. On this, SWAT team in-charge Kuldeep Dixit, Radheshyam Yadav along with Kurawali police started intensive checking at the mentioned place. Just then a tractor fitted with a thresher was seen coming from Etah’s side. When he was stopped and interrogated, he told that they were going for agricultural work.
When the SWAT team in-charge opened the lid of the thresher on suspicion, it was found to be filled with non-state liquor. Fearing being caught, both the smugglers present on the tractor started running away. But the police personnel caught him. On enquiry, they revealed their names as Rajesh Singh and Deepak, resident of village Rithal, police station Rohtak, Haryana. SP said that a total of 64 boxes of different brands were recovered from inside the thresher. Smugglers told that we had bought liquor from Haryana at cheap prices. The threshers of the tractor were being taken to Bihar by hiding them in the top of the cutter. There is a lot of demand there due to liquor ban. They get good prices for liquor. The SP said that the estimated value of the recovered liquor is around Rs 12 lakh. A case has been registered against the accused and they have been sent to jail.
