Nagaur. The construction work of Rail Overbridge (ROB) at Manasar intersection of the city is not getting completed for the last five years and now it has become a sore throat for the traders. The ROB construction work at Manasar in the city started in 2018 and in August 2022, the Railways also closed the railway crossing. Around 100 shops outside the gate have become victims of a lockdown-like situation. Due to the closure of the gate for about 7 months, the troubled traders are sitting on a dharna (Traders Protest) to open the gate in protest against the locking of the shops.
Traders say that the administration had talked about closing the Manasar railway gate for 70 days for the construction work of ROB, but it has been almost 200 days. The contractor left the construction work midway due to which there was delay. Rahul, a businessman, told that due to the closure of the gates, the customers are not able to reach the shops. Business has decreased by more than 70%.
Traders told that the subscription has been broken. The railway has closed the gate in such a way that iron bars have been placed all around, so that the customers cannot come even from under the gate. If the customers have to take some goods, then they have to travel 3 kilometers. Obviously, in such a situation, the customers hesitate. The business has broken to such an extent that many small and big shops have been closed.
The protest is being held under the banner of ‘Manasar Railway Gate Open Sangharsh Samiti’. A unique thing is visible in this protest. Here instead of hunger strike or sloganeering, God’s aarti and mantras are performed in the morning and evening. The traders associated with the committee, who are protesting peacefully here, have now warned that patience is over and fierce demonstrations seem to be the last way.
