Thakur votes with BJP in UP

Meanwhile, news channel India TV has conducted an opinion poll with CNX. According to this survey, BJP seems to be winning a landslide victory in Uttar Pradesh which has 80 seats. BJP can benefit the most from the caste equation in the state. 82 percent Thakur voters of UP can go with NDA. 7 percent Thakur voters may go in favor of India Alliance and 5 percent may go in favor of BSP, while 6 percent Thakur voters may go in support of others.

Political equation of UP

About 20 percent Muslims live in Uttar Pradesh. This vote bank remains between Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and Congress. There are 36 seats out of 80 where the Muslim population is close to 20 percent. There are 6 seats in UP where the population of Muslims is more than 50 percent. Baghpat, Amethi, Aligarh, Gonda, Lakhimpur Kheri, Lucknow, Mau, Maharajganj, Pilibhit, Sitapur are such seats where Muslim vote is decisive.

Non Yadav votes shifted towards BJP

OBC population in UP is about 52 percent. In this, the population of non-Yadav vote bank is 43 percent. In recent times, a large non-Yadav vote bank has come to BJP’s side. These include small castes like Kurmi, Kushwaha, Shakya, Saini, Lodh, Nishad, Kumhar, Jaiswal, Rajbhar, Gurjar.

Important role of Brahmins

The population of Brahmin community in Uttar Pradesh is around 8 to 10 percent, but there are more than a dozen districts where their population crosses 20 percent. Varanasi, Maharajganj, Gorakhpur, Jaunpur, Amethi, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Sant Karib Nagar are some of the districts where victory or defeat is decided by Brahmin votes.
