The nearly two and a half month long campaign for the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh ended on Thursday. Voting for 13 seats in the last phase of the election will be held on Saturday. During this time, top leaders of all parties including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda remained in the field till the last day of campaigning.

On behalf of BJP, PM Modi campaigned for 58 Lok Sabha candidates through 32 public meetings in UP and also did road shows in five cities including Varanasi. On the other hand, CM Yogi did a total of 205 public meetings and road shows across the country. He did 159 of these meetings in UP alone. On the other hand, JP Nadda did a total of nine public meetings and road shows in UP and Amit Shah did 38 public meetings and road shows. Let us tell you that Thursday was the last day of campaigning in view of the voting for the last phase on Saturday. Therefore, all the BJP leaders remained engaged in the campaign till the last moment.

With the notification of Lok Sabha elections on 16 March, the top leaders of BJP were the first to enter the political pitch and started campaigning. The first election campaign in the state was started by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath with a Prabuddh Sammelan in Mathura. At the same time, the Prime Minister heated up the political atmosphere in UP by holding his first election rally in Meerut on 31 March. During the last two and a half months, despite the scorching heat, all the top leaders of BJP including the PM sweated a lot in the campaigning.

During the campaign, the Prime Minister tried to connect with the people through road shows, communication with BJP workers through Namo App and Nari Vandan Sammelans apart from public meetings and road shows. At the same time, the Chief Minister also remained engaged in the campaign through 13 Prabuddh Sammelans, Mahila Sammelans, Advocate Sammelans and worker conferences apart from public meetings and road shows. Apart from himself, Yogi also addressed 16 meetings jointly with PM Modi and also did five road shows.

However, on the last day of campaigning, PM Modi and CM Yogi campaigned outside UP. In UP, PM Modi held his last rally in Mirzapur, Ghazipur and Bansgaon on 26 May. While CM Yogi held his last rally in Gorakhpur on Wednesday. On the last day of campaigning, Modi campaigned in Punjab while Yogi also campaigned in Himachal and Punjab.

Yogi held 205 public meetings across the country

The Chief Minister held a total of 205 public meetings in the country including UP in two and a half months. Out of these, 159 public meetings were held in UP only. Yogi was in great demand for campaigning outside UP as well. He held a total of 46 public meetings in 16 states. These states include Delhi, Punjab, Himachal, Odisha, Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar, Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, MP, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Chandigarh.
