Lok Sabha Election 2024 Person Not belonging to Press Raises Questions Against ECI During Press Conference


India General Election: Lok Sabha Elections The press conference of the Election Commission announcing the program of 2024 was interrupted for some time on Saturday (March 16) when a person started questioning the action of the Commission. The person was not from the media, whereas journalists were invited to the press conference. News agency ANI has shared a video of this incident on its X handle.

Who was the person?

In the video, the person calls himself Professor DS Aggarwal and says that he was a nominee for the presidential elections in 2012. He raised the question that the voter should be the proposer instead of the MP, the Election Commission has not made such an amendment yet.

The man also questioned the powers given to the District Magistrate (DM) of a constituency, who is also the Returning Officer (RO), to reject or accept the nomination of any candidate wishing to contest the elections. The person said that amendments should be made to prevent such biased people from participating in the activity.

The Commission later removed that person from the press conference. However, the Commission has not issued any statement regarding the incident.

Lok Sabha election 2024 schedule

The Election Commission announced on Saturday that the Lok Sabha elections 2024 will be held in seven phases. The first phase of voting will be held on April 19, the second phase of voting will be held on April 26. The third phase of voting will be held on May 7. Voting will be held in the fourth phase on May 13.

The fifth phase of voting will be held on May 20, the sixth phase of voting will be held on May 25 and the seventh phase of voting will be held on June 1. Counting of votes will start on June 4.
