The ruckus increased so much that they had to break the meeting midway. Angry over the speech not being completed, the messiah of the farmers challenged the Congressmen, including Indira, who created ruckus in the meeting, to enter the villages. According to the news published in Amar Ujala on 10 February 1971, supporters of Bharatiya Kranti Dal (BKD) national president Chaudhary Charan Singh had organized an election meeting in Subhash Park. The opponents started creating ruckus during Charan Singh’s speech. They kept raising slogans against him. The police had to resort to lathicharge to maintain peace. Some people also got injured due to this.

Due to disruptions in the meeting, he could speak only for five minutes the first time and about ten minutes the second time. He appealed to the protesters to remain calm. He said that if you have any civility then sit quietly. There is freedom of speech in democracy. There was peace for some time after the police explained, but after some time the commotion started again. Charan Singh became very angry due to the uproar. He told the stage that he knew that people of Congress and Communist Party were creating nuisance. Told those creating ruckus that if they create disturbance in his meeting like this, then his meetings will also not be held in the villages. They will not be able to enter the villages. Due to uproar, the meeting was dissolved midway. Police arrested 13 Congress supporters on charges of disturbance in the meeting. These included Brajmohan Sharma Braj, Lokesh Shrotriya, Bhavatosh Chakraborty, Uday Prakash Sharma etc.
