Lok Sabha Elections 2024: The troubles of Congress MP DK Suresh from Bengaluru Rural Lok Sabha constituency in Karnataka may increase. This is because after the complaint of former Prime Minister and JD(S) chief HD Deve Gowda, the Election Commission has instructed the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the state to take immediate action.
In a letter to the state CEO, the Commission asked him to take action keeping in mind the model code of conduct and relevant provisions of the law and sought a compliance report as soon as possible. The Commission has sent this letter on the basis of Deve Gowda’s complaint made to it on March 21.
What allegations did HD Deve Gowda make against DK Suresh?
The complaint given by the former Prime Minister claimed that DK Suresh was allegedly planning to distribute free goods, while the state election machinery had failed to take prompt action. The JD(S) leader alleged that the state election machinery was failing to take prompt action to stop ‘corrupt activities’ in the Bengaluru (Rural) Lok Sabha seat.
“DK Suresh is the brother of Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, hence…”
The former PM also alleges that free distribution items were removed from a warehouse and the system failed to take appropriate action. According to HD Deve Gowda, “Not only was there dereliction of duty on the part of the officer concerned, but the officers are afraid to take action against the sitting MP because he is the brother of Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar.”
DK Suresh calls himself a businessman and activist
Born on April 8, 1966 in Kanakapura, Karnataka, DK Suresh studied at Vivekananda Pre-University College (1985). In the last election affidavit, he had described himself as a businessman and social worker by profession. Apart from this, DK Suresh is very active on social media platforms.
