Elections 2024: The Election Commission on Tuesday (9 April) suspended 106 employees of the Telangana government. The Election Commission has booked these employees for violating the Model Code of Conduct. These Telangana government employees had allegedly participated in a meeting of BRS.
According to PTI report, these 106 government employees were allegedly present at a BRS meeting in Siddipet district of Telangana. Official sources said on Tuesday that a large number of government employees were present in the meeting held in a marriage hall on the night of April 7, 2024.
Employees ran away after seeing election officials
On the complaint lodged by BJP, a flying squad of election officials had reached the meeting place. As soon as the flying squad reached there, seeing them, many employees present there ran away from the place.
However, later these employees were identified through CCTV. Siddipet District Magistrate M Manu Choudhary, who is also the district election officer, issued orders to suspend 106 employees late on Monday (April 8).
Flying squad seized Rs 4 crore
According to a report by IANS, the flying squads of the Election Commission are continuously conducting raids in view of the Lok Sabha elections 2024. On the night of 6th April, the Flying Squad conducted a raid and seized Rs 4 crore from three people. The flying squad seized this amount from three people traveling in AC coach of Tirunelveli bound Nellai Express. During this time, Tambaram Railway Police was also with the team.
Cash worth lakhs recovered from relative of DMK candidate
The Flying Squad of the Election Commission seized Rs 7.5 lakh from the house of a relative of DMK Lok Sabha candidate Kathir Anand from Vellore Lok Sabha seat late on the night of 7 April. The flying squad seized the money from the residence of Natarajan, who is a relative of DMK State Secretary and Tamil Nadu Water Resources Minister S Duraimurugan. According to sources, the Flying Squad of the Election Commission has received this money from Natarajan’s house itself.
