Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Mulayam Singh Yadav Choudhary Ajeet Singh Rivalry Choudhary Charan Singh

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and senior leader of Samajwadi Party, late Mulayam Singh Yadav had learned the tricks of politics from his political guru, former Prime Minister and the messiah of farmers, Chaudhary Charan Singh. Chaudhary Charan Singh died in the year 1987, after which Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna took charge as the working president of Lok Dal.

Chaudhary Charan Singh’s son Chaudhary Ajit Singh was an MP from Rajya Sabha at that time. Ajit Singh wanted to take command of the Bharatiya Lok Dal in his own hands, but the problem was that senior leaders of the Lok Dal were in support of Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna. Which included Nathuram Mirdha, Chaudhary Devi Lal, Karpoori Thakur and the then leader of opposition in UP, Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Political rivalry between Mulayam and Ajit

Mulayam Singh Yadav had a big stature in the Bharatiya Lok Dal at that time. Because of this, he also played a decisive role in the success of Chaudhary Ajit Singh’s political future. From this time onwards, the relationship between the two started deteriorating and it is even said that Ajit Singh was trying to remove Mulayam Singh Yadav from the opposition chair, about which Mulayam Singh Yadav was aware. After this, Mulayam had given orders to his brother Shivpal Singh Yadav to take over all the offices of Lok Dal and then Shivpal Yadav had control over all the offices.

Ajit Singh’s Sama, Daam, Dand, Bheed

Ajit Singh took signatures on plain paper from the Lok Dal MLAs to remove Mulayam from the post of Leader of Opposition and without wasting time handed over the letter of support from the MLAs to the Governor and the Speaker of the Assembly. After this, Mulayam Singh Yadav leader lost the opposition chair.

Mulayam’s revenge

After losing the chair of Leader of Opposition, Mulayam Singh Yadav took revenge from Ajit Singh during the VP Singh government. At that time the VP government was in power at the Center and at that time VP Singh wanted Ajit Singh to become the CM of UP. Mulayam Singh protested against this in front of the observers from Delhi. When things did not work out even after several leaders tried to understand, it was agreed to elect the leader of the legislature party through voting by the MLAs.

Strong leaders DP Singh and Beni Prasad Verma had included 11 MLAs of Ajit faction in Mulayam faction. In the counting of votes, Ajit Singh got the support of 110 MLAs, while 115 MLAs voted for Mulayam Singh Yadav, after which the way was cleared for Mulayam Singh to sit on the CM chair.
