No candidate in Aurangabad withdrew his nomination till the last date of withdrawal of nominations on Tuesday under the first phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024. In this situation, now a total of nine candidates are in the election fray.

Aurangabad District Election Officer cum District Magistrate Shrikant Shastri told in the press conference on Tuesday evening that a total of 21 candidates had filed nomination forms for the Aurangabad Parliamentary seat. During the scrutiny of nomination papers, nominations of 12 candidates were rejected. The last date for withdrawal of nominations was scheduled for Tuesday, April 2. Till this day no candidate has withdrawn his nomination. In this situation, now a total of nine candidates are in the election fray.

These candidates include RJD’s Abhay Kumar Singha, BSP’s Sunesh Kumar, BJP’s Sushil Kumar Singh, People’s Party of India (Democratic)’s Pratibha Rani, Rashtriya Jan Sambhavna Party’s Ramjit Singh, All Hind Forward Bloc (Krantikari’s) Shailesh Rahi, Independent. Mo. Waliullah Khan, Rajballabh Singh and Suresh Prasad Verma are included.

DRO said that the list of all nine valid candidates is being sent to the Election Commission through the Election Department. And it will happen on 19th April. More than 18.5 lakh voters will exercise their franchise in the voting. Arrangements have been made for voting through postal ballot for government employees engaged in polling work. They will be made to vote through ballot paper during the second phase of training to be held on April 7-8.

He told that along with this, police personnel and drivers etc. will be made to vote through postal ballot at the Facilitation Centre. 116 PWD and voters above 85 years of age in the district have opted to vote through postal ballot. Voting will be conducted by the polling team at their homes.
