Lok Sabha Polls: Can Nitish Kumar be the coordinator of India? Decision will be taken in the meeting to be held in Mumbai – Nitish Kumar Can Be India’s Coordinator, Consensus Among Constituents, Announcement Can Be Made In August

Bihar CM and JDU leader Nitish Kumar could be the founding coordinator of the inclusive opposition alliance “India”. On this, almost a consensus has been reached among all the constituents including the Congress. It can be announced in the third meeting of India to be held in Mumbai next month.

In the second meeting of India held in Bengaluru on 17–18 July, it was decided that an 11-member coordinating body of the opposition alliance would be formed. This coordinating body will resolve issues related to the common election program and the distribution of Lok Sabha seats. The coordinator or coordinator will have an important role in this coordination board.

The initiative to form this alliance started from Bihar. Nitish Kumar had an important role in this. Most of the parties that participated in the first meeting of the alliance held in Patna in June had no previous alliance with the Congress. Not only this, in a state like Telangana, there is a direct fight between the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi and the Congress.

In such a situation, it is believed that keeping Nitish Kumar in the role of coordinator would be more favorable. In states like Telangana and West Bengal where regional parties have differences with the Congress, he will be accepted as a valid leader of the alliance. From the point of view of UP politics, the SP leadership is not in the race for this post, so it too has no objection to Nitish’s name.

Being a coordinator does not mean a candidate for the post of PM

Political scientist from Lucknow University Prof. Sanjay Gupta says that becoming a coordinator does not mean being a natural candidate for the post of PM. Leftist leader Harikishan Singh Surjeet was a leading figure in the National Front alliance in the nineties, but his name was never considered for the post of prime minister. The first convenor of NDA was George Fernandes and this coalition government in India completed its term for the first time. Then Atal Bihari Vajpayee became the Prime Minister. From 2008-2013, Sharad Yadav held the post of NDA convenor and his name also did not come up for the post of Prime Minister.
