The Communist Party of India (CPI), which is part of the Indian alliance, is preparing to contest the Lok Sabha elections on six seats in the state. Its proposal has been sent to the National Executive of CPI for approval. The candidates for these seats will be announced after the approval of the national leadership. Decisions on some other seats will be taken after discussion with the national leadership.

This decision was taken in the meeting of CPI State Secretary Board on Friday. After the meeting, the Secretary Board issued a statement saying that the Left parties are continuously fighting together on the burning issues of the common people in Uttar Pradesh. At the grassroots level, they are exposing the anti-people policies of the BJP’s double engine government. But some constituent parties of the India Alliance in the state unilaterally announced the Lok Sabha seats. Till date, neither any talks nor any joint meeting of the alliance has been held with the left parties.

In such a situation, CPI has currently decided to field candidates on Banda, Ghazipur, Ghosi, Robertsganj (UP), Shahjahanpur (UP) and Dhaurahara Lok Sabha seats. It was said in the meeting that talks are going on on mutual coordination between the leftist parties. The doors of talks are also open with the parties of India Alliance.

The meeting was presided over by Comrade Arvind Raj Swarup, State Secretary of the party. State party’s central in-charge and national executive member Dr. Girish, former MLA Imtiaz Ahmed, Motilal, Phoolchand Yadav, Rajesh Tiwari and Ramchandra Saras etc. were present in the meeting.
