Despite this, the residents of the capital have always lagged behind in voting. This is the reason why after independence till date the 60 percent mark has not been crossed even once in any election in Lucknow seat. The highest turnout of 58.49 percent took place in the 1962 elections. The voting percentage in Mohanlalganj seat has definitely crossed the sixty percent mark in the last two elections.

Urban voters prevailed over rural voters till 1977.

In the 1962 elections, 58.49 percent voting took place in Lucknow seat and 46.20 percent voting took place in Mohanlalganj seat. Till the elections of 1977, urban voters prevailed over rural voters in voting. After this the situation changed and the voters of Mohanlalganj took the lead. Meanwhile, the year 1996 was the only election in which the voters of Lucknow took the lead in terms of voting percentage. It was enjoyable and also raised awareness.
