Voting will be held on eight seats of UP on Friday in the second phase of the biggest celebration of democracy in the world. Voting will be held from 7 am to 6 pm in Amroha, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh and Mathura in the state. This time 91 candidates are in the fray. These include 10 women candidates.

State Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa said that all preparations have been completed for free and fair elections. There are 1,67,77,198 voters in UP in the second phase. There are 90,26,051 male, 77,50,356 female and 791 third gender voters. The highest number of voters is in Ghaziabad at 29.45 lakh and the least in Baghpat is 16.53 lakh. Out of total 17704 polling booths, 3472 are sensitive.

In the second phase on Friday, voting will be held on 88 seats in 13 states across the country. Hema Malini from BJP, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union Ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Rajeev Chandrashekhar, actor-turned-politician Arun Govil, MP Tejasvi Surya, Rahul Gandhi from Congress, Bhupesh Baghel, KC Venugopal, Shashi Tharoor from Karnataka. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar’s brother DK Suresh and former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy are big faces whose fate will be decided by the voters.
