There are also temples of Lord Vishnu and his incarnations in the city of Shiva. The temple city has a long series of temples of Kurma, Varaha, Vamana, Nrisimha, Rama and Krishna. Talking about Lord Narasimha, there are 18 temples located in the city. There are different rituals for darshan of each form of Lord Narasimha. Some remove obstacles, some provide fearlessness and some give the blessing of permanent Lakshmi.
According to the story described in Kashi Khand, Lord Vishnu is present in Kashi in 18 forms. Atyugra Narasimha is one of them. Lord Vishnu is established in the form of Atyugra Narasimha in the western part of Kamleshwar Shiva. Atyugra is made up of two words Ati and Ugra which indicates the immense power of the Lord. It is believed that by worshipping Lord Atyugra Narasimha, even a huge amount of sins can be removed.
Similarly, Nirvana Narasimha is seated in the east of Omkareshwar. Mahabalnarsimha is seated to the east of Chandbhairav, Prachandanarsimha is seated east of Dehli Vinayak, Giri Narasimha is seated behind Pitamaheshwar, Mahabhayahar Narasimha is seated to the west of Kamaleshwar, Jwala Narasimha is seated near Kankalbhairav and Kolahal Narasimha is seated behind Neelkanth Mahadev.
At Prahlad Ghat, Vidaranrisingh removes the obstacles of Kashi. Lakshmi Nrisimha provides salvation Lakshmi. Mother Lakshmi never leaves those who take bath in Lakshmi Narasimha to the south of Gopi Govind.
Sins are removed by having the darshan of Giri Narasimha seated in the east direction from Delhi Vinayak. The fear of the devotees is dispelled by the sight of Mahabhaya Narasimha behind Pitamaheshwar. Sins are mitigated by worshiping Atyugra Narasimha seated to the west of Kamaleshwar Shiva. All obstacles are removed by the darshan of Kolahala Narasimha sitting near the skeleton Bhairav. Devotees become fearless by worshiping Vitank Narasimha behind Neelkanth Mahadev.
