Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday expressed deep displeasure over the shameful incident that took place after the rain in Lucknow’s Gomtinagar. On the instructions of CM Yogi, the government took action against DCP East, ADCP East and ACP Gomtinagar who were negligent in the matter and removed them with immediate effect, while all the policemen of the post including Gomtinagar Inspector, Samtamulk Chowki Incharge have been suspended. Lucknow Police Commissionerate has arrested four accused so far by filing a report against the miscreants under relevant sections. At the same time, raids are being conducted to arrest other accused.
DCP East, ADCP and ACP removed, four suspended
Taking cognizance of the matter, CM Yogi has taken a big action against the careless officers on Thursday. He expressed his displeasure over the incident and directed action against the careless officers. There was a stir in the police department due to CM Yogi’s displeasure. Also, on the instructions of the CM, the government removed DCP East Prabal Pratap Singh, ADCP Amit Kumawat and ACP Gomtinagar Anshu Jain from their posts with immediate effect.

Along with this, Gomtinagar Inspector Deepak Kumar Pandey, Samtamulk Chowki Incharge Rishi Vivek, Inspector Kapil Kumar, Constable Dharamveer and Constable Virendra Kumar were suspended. Instructions were given to arrest the accused soon. Lucknow Police Commissioner Amarendra Kumar Sengar said that after heavy rain in the capital on Wednesday, there was waterlogging near the underpass built in Gomtinagar police station area near the Taj Hotel.
Meanwhile, taking cognizance of the information about some unruly elements doing objectionable activities with the pedestrians passing through the underpass, a report was filed against the accused in Gomti Nagar. The police filed a report against the accused under sections 191 (2), 3 (5), 272, 285 and 74 (related to insulting the dignity of a woman/outraging her modesty) BNS 2023. At the same time, four separate teams were formed to arrest the accused.

After action against the policemen, Shashank Singh has been made DCP East, Pankaj Singh ADCP East, Vikas Jaiswal has been made ACP Gomti Nagar. Inspector Rajesh Kumar Tripathi has been made SHO Gomti Nagar. Prabhal Pratap Singh who was removed has been posted as DCP UP 112, Amit Kumawat has been posted in ADCP Headquarters. Anshu Jain has been appointed as ACP Women Crime.
Four sent to jail, raids are continuing to arrest others
The Police Commissioner said that the crime team has arrested four accused during the raid. He said that on the basis of CCTV footage in the case, two accused Pawan Yadav and Sunil Kumar were arrested late on Wednesday night. On their information, two other accused Mohammad Arbaaz and Viraj Sahu have been arrested. Along with this, raids are being conducted continuously to arrest other accused.
