The second wife of a retired IAS officer of Jammu and Kashmir cadre has filed a case in Ghazipur police station accusing her step son and son-in-law of rape. It is also alleged that she was held hostage and beaten up when her dowry demand was not met. When it was revealed that the place of incident was Bandipora in Jammu and Kashmir, the investigation has been transferred to the police of the concerned police station.

The 35-year-old woman from Lucknow was married to a retired IAS officer from Bandipura, Jammu and Kashmir in November 2020. According to the woman, her husband retired in 2010. His first wife died in 2018. He has four children from his first wife.

According to the girl, she was harassed for dowry ever since she reached her in-laws’ house. It is alleged that in April last, her son-in-law and step-son held her captive for five days and raped her. She was beaten badly when she protested. Before this, her husband and his family members made some videos of her. When her health deteriorated, she was sent to her maternal home. They also made her sign on a plain stamp paper.

Inspector Ghazipur Vikas Rai said that on the complaint of the girl, a case has been registered against six people including a retired IAS officer. Investigation revealed that the incident took place in Bandipura, Jammu and Kashmir. The case has been transferred to Bandipura police station for further investigation.
