The results of the Gujarat assembly elections are out. This time the Bharatiya Janata Party has created a new record. In Gujarat, which has 182 assembly seats, 156 BJP candidates won the elections. The Congress suffered the most. The Congress came straight down to 17 from 77 seats. Means Congress had to bear the loss of 60 seats. At the same time, this time only five candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party, which claimed to form the government, could win the elections. The SP candidate won one seat, while the remaining three seats were won by independent candidates.
Congress’s Gulabsingh Somsingh Chauhan defeated BJP’s Jigneshkumar Ambalal Sevak by 26,620 votes in Lunawada assembly seat in Mahisagar district. The BJP candidate got 45,467 votes while the BJP got 72,087 votes. Independent Jayaprakash Purushottambhai Patel (J.P.) remained at number three. Patel got 43,749 votes, which was 23.78 percent of the total votes. Here the bail of five including AAP’s candidate was forfeited. Whereas, NOTA got 3,288 votes here.
BJP victorious on two seats in Mahisagar district
Lunawada seat is one of the three seats in Mahisagar district. There are only three seats in this district. The BJP has won two seats in the district in this assembly election. At the same time, the Congress candidate was successful in winning one seat.
Independent got victory in 2017
Independent Ratan Singh Rathore won the Lunawada seat in the 2017 assembly elections. In this election, BJP had made Manoj Kumar Patel its candidate from this seat. He was defeated by Ratan Singh Rathore by 3200 votes. A total of nine candidates were in the fray here. The deposits of six of these candidates were forfeited.
